Talking 'Bout Her GRADUATION

So, this is actually supposed to be a Mommy Blog, or at least Mommy Blog -ish, and I have failed miserably in this area. But I have something Mommy-ish tonight!! I DO!!

Lennon Marie graduated from KINDERGARTEN!!! And I bawled! And I laughed! And I mostly bawled! It was a knife in the heart of that part of my soul that believes my kids will just stay little and cute and plushy and knee-dimply forever and ever and ever. Oh, but I loved it.

Lenn's class sang about five songs at the beginning of the ceremony, and each one surpassed the last in cuteness quotients. Oh my goodness, when they started dancing like Southern Baptists during This Little Light of Mine?? I think I popped a tear duct from all the laugh-crying. My little girl was so into it, and it was like I was overcome with the truth of just how important it is to treasure every single second of her childhood, because one day, not too far from today, she will just be too cool to shake her hips and smile like a madman, and submit to her inner groove. (Granted, as our kid, chances are good, "too cool" should be taken with a very loose definition.)

She was beautiful up there, because she was just so Her. I fell in love with her the same way I did when I first held her in my arms in the hospital room. Heart-swelling love. She beamed the entire time, occasionally flashing a thumbs up in our direction. It never stopped being one of my favorite nights as a mom.

Shine on, Little Light. Congratulations on your biggest accomplishment. Mom is proud of you, because you are just so good at being You.

I bawled at Devlin's kindergarten graduation. And I bawled at the Mother's Day Tea thing they had too, when his class went up to the front and they sang some silly Mother song, and he was singing his little heart out and I felt like it was just him and me in all the world.

Might as well run with it, because you can't fight it. Sometimes, being a mom is just All Awesome.

Oh it is bittersweet. Loved that age. I sound old but gosh the years do fly by with our kids.

Love it! I have yet to cry over anything Piper has done (except maybe when she poked me in the eye with her magic wand or played with her poop), but reading your post makes me just a teeny bit excited for her to get bigger...just a teeny bit.
