Make Your Own Kind of Music

I listen to music on my way to school every morning, because it keeps the guy who hates Mormons from talking to me. It's Eric's iPod, not mine, and so most mornings I end up shuffling through The Avett Brothers and the soundtrack to Les Miserables, thinking to myself how much I wish I had my own iPod, so I could fill it with "not The Avett Brothers" and the soundtrack to Les Miserables.

Eric and I are very similar people, in that we like to order from the kids menu at restaurants, and we both like way more movies with Nicholas Cage than we're usually willing to admit out loud. (Shut up, National Treasure was good, and Raising Arizona is awesome).

But there are things about us that are not at all similar. For one thing, Eric's iPod is terribly unorganized. He labels things like "ridd Sorenson" right next to "Ridd Sorenson" so I KNOW the guy spells his name like a normal person, and Eric is just too lazy to fix the R. He also has duplicates of songs. I can't deal with duplicates of songs.

Contrariwise, Eric folds his underwear, while I prefer to just throw it in the drawer. Actually, that's a lie. I prefer to throw it in the laundry basket. Actually, that's a lie too. I prefer to keep it in the dryer, and take as needed.

I'm not even sure how we got on the subject of underwear. We were talking about his iPod right?

So here's the point. The biggest difference between Eric and myself is that Eric has his own music, the music he wrote and recorded, on his iPod. For his listening pleasure. And guess how I know he listens to it? His music is in the 25 Most Played folder. BOOM! You've been sold out by your portable listening device, hubby.

That's weird, right? To listen to your own music? To be like, "You know who I feel like hearing right now? Me. That's who." I couldn't do that. I don't even like to go back and read my old blog posts.

That's a lie. I do it all the time. And I laugh, really hard, like I'm some kind of comic genius I wish I knew in real life.

Okay, so me and Eric? Not so different.

P.S. Eric, you need more ELO and maybe the soundtrack to Footloose. Get on it. Thanks.

I spend a lot of time rereading your old blog posts, too, so I can read the comments I wrote at the end of them. Talk about comic genius, baby!

What are we if we are not keeping our geeky husbands in check??

My husbands playlist has "ho-down throwdown" song as the top played song at like 256 plays...in his defense he left it blasting for my daughter one day while he left and i was stuck deathly sick in bed to be tortured for hours until he returned home. But still, if i ever needed to use it against him, i'd HAVE the evidence...just sayin'.

thanks for this. I wish I knew your comic genius-ness in real life too :)

I'm with Mrs. Mouthy. I not only troll my own blog for new comments, I check back on other blogs on which I have commented to see if anyone has commented on MY comment. It's all about me, really. Someone has to appreciate my sparkling intellect and dazzling wit, and if no one else steps up, I am not above shouldering that burden myself.

I required some information and was searching on Google for it. I visited each of the top ten pages that came up but didn’t get any relevant result... I then luckily found your diamond message board in the dirt and thought to check it out. This is what I was after

Cheers people at mommyblogyay.blogspot.com and keep the brilliant effort up.

I hate "Anonymous," but I love you and Eric. You both are awesome.
And I firmly believe that I should NEVER unload my dryer unless a new load is going in. It is a great storage area for my clean clothes.
