The Boring House Talk Begins

I am taking my camera to our new house tomorrow.

1. Most of you have asked to see pictures, and I like to do what you readers tell me to do, because I'm an attention and praise whore.

2. I would like a BEFORE picture of all the rooms, so I can start a blog on how people who know nothing about design can single-handedly ruin a perfectly good blank canvas.

3. We will be painting tomorrow, and since we have no idea how to paint a room, documenting the process is like an unspoken Blogging Rule. What would I do if Eric stepped in paint, and I didn't have a camera to capture the moment of anger and shame (instead of running to get him a towel to clean up with)? (Probably restage the moment, like most bloggers do, but I'm probably too lazy for that crap, so it's best to go with the moment).

By the way, we're painting Lennon's room pink. I think it's called "Pink Dreams" or "Pink Parade" or "In the Pink" but I don't remember for certain. I do know that Harrison's room is a soft blue called "Enchanted" and I'm pretty sure he'll grow up hating me because I will never let him forget that he sleeps in the Enchanted room.

On a related note, my mother-in-law once painted a room with a yellow color called "Warm Muffin." Because my mind is a gutter unto itself, I still snicker when I think of it.

Only your MIL would have chosen "Warm Muffin." I should have been born into their family.

Can't wait to see pictures of the house. I have to live vicariously through my friends who are getting to take advantage of all the deals on the market right now. I would give just about anything for my own house. You are so lucky!
If there's anything I can do to help with decorating stuff, let me know. And good luck painting this week! My best tip for you there is to paint a 3x3 section on the wall first and let the paint dry completely. A lot of times people chose paint colors that are too dark for a whole room (those paint swatches are tricky little things). If the paint looks too dark after it's dried, get a big 5-gallon plastic paint bucket and mix all the tinted paint with white paint until you get the shade you're happy with.

I'm sure you chose great colors! Can't wait to see the result! And congrats on the house!

Congrats on the new house. And how lucky that it will be colorful. Here we are 4 years later still living in a plain white house. I have fear of horrible design error so i decided to do without.
