Good

L- wasn't feeling well this morning, and I knew she wasn't because she spent most of the morning sitting on the couch holding her blanket and watching TV, instead of taking out all her toys and making a huge mess of the living room, kitchen, and bedrooms.

Around two o'clock or so, after watching all the Tivoed episodes of Sesame Street and Wonderpets, she finally sat up and said she wanted to color. Even though I got to spend most of the morning taking care of H-'s teething fever and catching up on unread books, I was relieved to see that life had returned to her frail little frame and the color was returning to her cheeks. She was an overly-sensitive version of herself for the rest of the day, but for the most part, she was very helpful with H-, and she spent most of the time coloring or playing quietly.

When Eric came home, I told him how L- hadn't been feeling good all day. And she surprised me with one of the saddest faces I've ever seen her make.

She looked up at me with a deeply distressed look forming in those big blue eyes and asked with concern , "I wasn't good?!"

"Oh L-!" I replied quickly. "No babe, you were very good. I just said you weren't FEELING good."

Her face spread out into a smile, and she returned attention to her animals, but it took all my will not to scoop her up and cuddle the living daylights out of her. My little girl should never have to question her goodness.

Little one, everything about you is good.

By the way, I totally recognize the fact that I use improper english around her all the time, and I should have said, "she wasn't feeling WELL" and totally avoided all the heartbreak.

Trust me, my misuse of language could not POSSIBLY annoy you more than it annoys me.

what a sad, sweet little girl. Why not scoop her up for a cuddle? Other than her fighting it off and saying, "Don't squish me!"
